So what did you think of the "Six Feet Under" season finale? I'm still depressed. But it's not an easy show for me to watch, with my mother currently in the hospital.

Just came back from seeing Broken Flowers. Still processing it. Jarmusch is always tough for me. I get it intellectually and critically. But my heart doesn't want it.

Lis, I was happy with the finale... some truly touching moments... and that final montage was kind of horribly wonderful, the logical conclusion to all those deaths that started every episode from the get... Jarmusch IS kind of tough, but I just keep thinking about Bill Murray's eyes... that's where the emotion lived for me.

Judith Lewis Mernit and I both contributed essays to this book, along with Jane Smiley, Thomas McGuane, Anne Lamott and a bunch of other famous and non-famous writers. Edited by Barbara Abercrombie, it's available on Amazon for a mere 10 bucks and change, and all proceeds go to an animal rescue charity.
