"Love her or hate her?!" Re: Meryl Streep!? What are you nuts!? Billy, EVERYONE loves her. Untill this post, and stroll down history lane, I've NEVER heard a single negative thing about Meryl Streep. Her acting performances defy time. She has the unique ability to make everyone happy simultatneously at once!! No one since the Wizzard of Oz has had such power!! So one putz missed the boat back in the 70s. There was a lot of trippy shit being passed among the natives back then.

All joking aside, thanks for the look at Ellie Greenwhich's input. From what you said making a moive of her life MIGHT be interesting. Does she have any cool romantic subplots? If so maybe a story revolving arround Ellie Greenwhich is the next "Dreamgirls" waiting to happen. Hey, you think Beyonce could play Ellie?

I confess I knew almost nothing about Ellie Greenwich until her passing, though the songs ... I hear them, I have to stand, I have to move, I have to sing - well, at the very least hum. Thanks for this post.

In some ways, cruel as the remark was, I understand where Dino DeLaurentis was coming from. Meryl is a beautiful woman but not in the standard, cookie cutter mold we relentlessly see. In many ways, however, it makes her more striking and it's too bad we don't see more non standard-issue looks in men and women.

Of course, that's just talking the superficiality of appearance. The acting! I suspect that having been so good for so long she's probably a bit intimidating for other actors, at least the ones starting out.

There's an editorial by "Meryl Streep" at the Onion right now that is very much on topic and, of course, rather funny.

And on top of it all, Meryl Streep is such a good person. There is justice in the world if she, with her natural beauty at 60, can still open a movie just on the force of her artistry.

Chris

I heard that Brian Wilson once listened to Be My Baby on repeat for a year (or something along those lines. Drugs were involved).

Streep is a force of nature; invincible, immovable. It's as if the very act of her doing something makes it so that there's nothing she can't do.

I know all the words of: AND THEN HE KISSED ME, BE MY BABY, CHAPEL OF LOVE, DA DOO RON RON, DO WAH DIDDY DIDDY, I CAN HEAR MUSIC, LEADER OF THE PACK, and RIVER DEEP. MOUNTAIN HIGH.

I never knew they were all penned by the same person. What a talented songwriter!

EC: Well, the skin color would be a problem. But other than that...

Bill: I, too, yearn for the less cookie cutter, more non-standard issue...

Thank you, LR! Very funny indeed.

Molly: It's great when something goes right.

Chris: Reportedly Wilson's favorite record. And CERTAINLY drugs were involved.

Martinb: It's worth looking even further into her discography - there's other gems to hear.
