A trio of items have been sitting in my "save" folder this week, each perhaps worthy of some pithy posting material, but time's a-wasting, life be busy, and I'm thinking we can just let the "let's make it about me" -ism of the blogosphere slide, for once. So without any major logical connective tissue, here's some links you might enjoy, iffen you've missed them thus far.
1) Given that we're in romantic comedy land, Nora Ephron has this to say about the blog phenomenon.
2) A follow-up to my "James Joyce done bored me shitless" post of some weeks back is one writer's observation that e-mail spam is the new post-modern creative literature.
3) This truly brilliant tour-de-farce demonstrates that great editing, the right cliched music and an inspired-ly sick voice-over can turn even the darkest artistic vision into pure piffle.
I think we've all learned a little something about ourselves from this, have we not? Shine on.
I have come across "Shining" so many places this week, and have had to re-watch it every time. I can't get enough of it. What amazes me most is that this isn't just an expose... the piffle actually looks like it *works*.
When Peter Gabriel wrote Solsbury Hill, did he have *any* idea...?
