This is one of my FAVORITE rom com scenes.

My single friends and I saw it opening night at the Grove (in L.A).

We were laughing so hard, tears were rolling down our cheeks.

I felt completely uplifted after seeing this film, and the effect never wears off. I think I've watched it about 25 times in the past 10 years. I am not ashamed. I'll even sign my real name to this. (Well, my first name, anyway.)

NYC/Caribbean Ragazza: There is nothing better than laughing till you're crying. And as a great lover of Rome (my Italian ex-wife lives there), I got a kick out of visiting your blog.

Kristen: Brave girl, you are not alone. I think it's a rom-com classic, and intend to more fully celebrate Bridget's 10th anniversary with a future post on the movie as a whole.

I absolutely love this scene - you do it great justice. here. Actually, I love all of "Bridget Jones's Diary," chiefly because Bridge is so endearing AND she ultimately is loved "just as she is". No makeover required, bad habits and extra pounds intact. It's the way all of us deserve to be loved and a refreshing change from so many American romantic comedies.

I've been lurking at this site for awhile and greatly enjoying your posts. At my own blog, I write a lot about romantic comedy films; along with musicals, they're my favorite genre. Your obvious appreciation of the genre and understanding of what works and doesn't work is very insightful and always fun to read.

Thank you, Pat - I'm currently investigating your fun site. All more grist for the revel & post-ing mill...
